So it's no surprise that the band takes an innovative approach when it comes to its cover of the Violent Femmes' "Kiss Off."

"We made it our own with our jamming parts and stuff like that," says bassist Desert Muserelli.

"I like that the singer's all disturbed," adds singer/guitarist Jonathan Cisneros. "We like to get all of the good parts and make them longer. We get compared to Violent Femmes a lot, and I thought it would be cool to do something new so it wasn't boring."

Snail Quail is scheduled to perform at The Trunk Space on Saturday, August 11 with Go Go Snap Radio, Sareena Dominguez, and Foxchildren.

"It'll be a throwback to earlier Snail Quail days as we shall be sans bassist. We'll be having some extra fun with that," says Cisneros, who explains it all (along with his horchata) in this video.
