When you put your key in the ignition and turn on the radio, what station would play right now? KWSS, of course.
What's the first album you bought? Miles Davis, Bitches Brew.
What's the first concert you saw? I'm dating myself here, but it was my favorite band of all time, The Sons Of Champlin. I'm now lucky enough to have a few Bill Champlin songs in our catalog.
What's your favorite concert you've ever been to? Anthony Braxton. One man, one saxophone, one spotlight.
What's the last song played on your music player? "Saturdays," by Holly Brook.
Preferred format: CD, vinyl, cassette, 8-Track or digital? I'm a minimalist, so I have to say digital. Having an entire world of music at my fingertips that I can carry in my pocket is far more appealing than lugging around LPs in a milk crate. Vinyl and tape never sound as good as they did the first time you played them, and Google exceeds far beyond liner notes.
What's your favorite album? It's impossible for me to have a favorite. I listen to so much music as a music publisher/label owner/songwriter. I have a vast appreciation for all genres, so it's virtually impossible pick one.
Who is your favorite singer or band? I love female vocalists who can emote a melody without a ridiculous amount of improvised licks. I'm going to keep it local and say Nicole Laurenne from The Love Me Nots. I love the timbre of her voice and the way she sells a lyric. She totally rocks it.
What was your favorite new or new-to-you album from 2010? Young Giant, Queens Club.
What one song would you play if you had a world-wide radio audience? Any song from another local favorite, Bruce Connole. Bruce is such an incredible songwriter and musician whose genius spans multiple genres.
What is your favorite music video? OK Go, "This Too Shall Pass," Rube Goldberg Machine version. I just wish I could set that whole deal up with my 8-year-old and let him tip the first domino.
