For the most part, Blood Diamonds, Grimes, Kreayshawn and Tragik are each decent artists as separate entities (with the exception, of course, being Kreayshawn). For whatever reason, they've teamed up to form a group called L$D (short for Lesbian Satanic Druglords... obviously), and it's definitely even stranger than could be expected.

We love when artists get weird, but L$D has taken things a little too far. Seriously, what is this shit?

We'll elaborate on our feelings of confusion and WTF-ness after the jump...

According to Consequence of Sound, L$D's first track, "Don't Smoke My Blunt Bitch" was "recorded in 10 minutes, with its accompanying music video completed in under an hour." Nobody is surprised by that information once they've seen the video, to say the least.

With lyrics like "blah blah blah/I'm the man," it's natural to feel sad both for the group's lack of creativity and for their decision to actually release such crap for public consumption. I won't bother getting into the contradiction of the lyrics "I don't give a fuck about you smoking my blunt" with the title of the song. And did I hear something about a pap smear at 1:05? That phrase has no place in any song.

"Don't Smoke My Blunt Bitch" is one of those "well there goes three minutes of my life that I can never get back" kinds of videos. As for that awful shrill scream at 1:44, I wish I could unhear it forever. G-d help us all if people actually start paying to see that songs like "Don't Smoke My Blunt Bitch" live. The trippy effects are cool and the background vocal harmonies near the end are alright, but those are the few positive aspects of the musical mess.

The track and its music video go to show that the principles of quality and quantity are not always equally respected in the music industry anymore. From an artist's perspective, it's great to constantly release material in order to stay relevant and remain in the public eye. But what some artists like L$D are forgetting is that they shouldn't just release material because they can. It should be a finished product, and a good one at that.

Sure -- maybe the idea is a one-off, here's a sketch more than a song kinda thing. But really, is this what fans of any these artists are interested in?

Erykah Badu could go on about that idea for hours; earlier this week she told my boy Wayne Coyne to "KiSS MY Glittery ASS" for releasing what she claims was an unedited, unfinished product.

Case in point: although "Don't Smoke My Blunt Bitch" is no product of Rebecca Black, L$D should hold off on making any additional music just because they can unless it's way better than this.
