It's been more than two weeks since ASU student Kyleigh Ann Sousa was killed during a robbery attempt in Tempe, and police still haven't arrested anybody -- which sparked Silent Witness today to offer an $11,000 reward for information leading to the arrest or indictment of Sousa's killer or killers.
Tempe police Sergeant Steve Carbajal told us Tuesday that the department had received more than 100 tips from the public since Sousa was killed and that it's doing everything it can to find out who killed her.
See a sketch of the suspect after the jump.
Police say Sousa was approached by a heavy-set Hispanic male in a newer model, silver Chrysler 300 or Dodge Charger.
The suspect, police say, grabbed Sousa's purse and tried to drive away, but Sousa got tangled and was dragged several feet by the vehicle.Carbajal says anyone who was in the car with the suspect will face serious charges, possibly murder if they don't come forward.
We spoke yesterday to Sousa's mother, Karen Montenegro, who said, "Someone just ripped her away from us."Anyone with any information that could help police track down the suspect is asked to call Tempe police at 480-WITNESS or 480-948-6377, text "SILENT plus your message" to CRIMES (274637), or go online to www.silentwitness.org.
