Former Governor Fife Symington Eyeing Another Run For Arizona's Top Spot

Well, it seems former Arizona Governor Fife Symington, who narrowly avoided a prison sentence after being convicted of extortion, bank fraud, and making false financial statements, is taking a page out of former disgraced Washington D.C. Mayor Marion Barry's book and may try to get his old job back.

If you're convicted of a felony while working at McDonald's, and tried to get your job back, they would laugh in your face (thanks Chris Rock). However, this is the governorship we're talking about; hiring qualifications must not be as rigid.

It helps that Symington was pardoned by former President Bill Clinton for his crimes.

"As I've watched this budget drama unfold and watched the state continue to deteriorate ... I've been giving serious consideration to running again," Symington tells Yellow Sheet. "I'm definitely looking at it in a positive light, which frankly comes as a surprise."

Symington says that his decision is not going to be based on whether or not the abhorred Governor Jan Brewer decides to seek a new term.

"I just don't understand how we can have a Republican governor who is at such odds with the Legislature and legislative leadership and passing a budget that pairs back state spending and starts to get our house in order," he says. "She's also intent on increasing taxes."

Let's see; an incompetent or a thief? Looks like slim pickings for the GOP.
