Archaeologists have discovered Maricopa County Joe Arpaio's birthday was yesterday, and in typical Arpaio fashion, he shouted it from the rooftops.
For Arpaio's birthday, Citizens for a Better Arizona's Randy Parraz brought the sheriff a cake. The purpose, according to one of Parraz's e-mail blasts, was to put 80 candles on the thing, each one representing a million bucks in legal payments the county could reach thanks to Arpaio. (According to Paul Rubin's latest cover story, that number is currently about $50 million.)
Of course, Arpaio posed for the cake, earning him a spot in this week's New Times You Write the Caption contest.
The rules for You Write the Caption are simple: We provide the picture (above), and you provide the caption to that photo in the comments below.
On
Monday, we'll announce the top-five reader captions and put them to a
vote. The winner will receive a pay-your-own-way trip to the historic New Times building for a firm handshake and/or a high-five.
Do your best (or worst), New Times readers.
