Nearly two years after he was arrested on drug and weapons charges, rapper Lil Wayne is set to stand trial in Yuma County.

Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, was busted at a checkpoint near Yuma in January, 2008, when police found a quarter-pound of marijuana, an ounce of cocaine, and 41 grams of Ecstasy on his tour bus as he and his entourage tried to go through the checkpoint.

Authorities also found a handgun on the bus.

The prosecutor in the case, Roger Nelson, says that his office doesn't offer misdemeanor charges for such offenses, which has halted any plea deal and delayed scheduling a trial.

Wayne made Arizona headlines again in August after violence broke out after a concert at the Cricket Wireless Pavilion.

Wayne's two tour busses were in the parking lot of a Phoenix apartment complex, when residents of an apartment began throwing bottles and rocks at the busses after women were seen leaving and entering the vehicles.

Wayne's trial is scheduled to begin March 30, 2010.
