Walmart workers around Phoenix are organizing a protest outside of a Phoenix Walmart store on Black Friday.
The protest at the Walmart store near 36th Street and Thomas Road is one of 1,600 Black Friday protests planned nationwide, according to the groups backing the effort, Our Walmart and United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW).
"I'm doing this to support other associates who have been retaliated against," Tolleson Walmart employee Sandra Sok tells New Times. "[I'll] speak up and let them know how I feel."

The nationwide protests are taking place with demands of higher pay and more working hours, in addition to blasting the retail chain for allegedly retaliating against workers who do speak out.
"We want to stop all the bullying and retaliation from management," Sok says.
Sok says this will be her first Black Friday protest.
"I've always been afraid for fear of retaliation, but it's the right thing to do," she says.
Joe Murphy of UFCW Local 99 tells us this will be the third annual Black Friday protest of Walmart in Phoenix.
Our Walmart and the UFCW have organized several other demonstrations in the Phoenix area at other times, including protests at the Paradise Valley home of Walmart chairman Rob Walton.
