It's a wonder that Phoenix Suns forward Michael Beasley has ever gotten away with smoking weed.
Scottsdale police arrested Beasley early Tuesday morning after finding marijuana in Beasley's possession during a traffic stop, which is at least the fifth time that someone has caught Beasley with weed.
Here's the information released by Scottsdale PD:
On 08/06/13 at 1:15 am SPD made a stop for a traffic violation in the area of Scottsdale and McCormick Roads. As the officer approached the vehicle he could smell marijuana emanating from within the car. A search of the driver's area recovered marijuana that was impounded. The driver, identified as Michael Beasley, was booked pending charges for possession of marijuana and released.
Professional athletes are held to a different standard than other people, which makes using weed a bit problematic for him.
In fact, when he came to Phoenix, he had to swear to everyone that he was off The Pot to make the whole thing work.
"I realize 10 minutes of feeling good is not really worth putting my life and my career and my legacy in jeopardy," he said at his introductory press conference, "so I'm confident to say that part of my career, that part of my life, is over and won't be coming back."
That part of his career started at rookie camp, when he allegedly was caught in a pot-smoking incident with a couple other rookies, but the proof was never definitive. He was fined $50,000 for the incident, though.
When he played in Minnesota, he was ticketed (lucky) for marijuana possession, and he acknowledged that when he was in Miami, he violated the league's substance-abuse policy (i.e., tested positive for marrywanna) twice.
In 2009, he tweeted out a photo of his new bitchin' tattoo when he was with the Timberwolves but kind of forgot to move the alleged sack of weed out of the frame. Of course, everyone noticed that.
This is now Beasley's most serious run-in with police, as marijuana possession's a felony 'round here.
He also grew some dreadlocks recently:

Earlier this year, Beasley was arrested by Scottsdale PD for several traffic violations, including going 71 mph in a 45-mph zone, and not having a license plate.
Scottsdale police have been "investigating an allegation of sexual assault involving" Beasley, although no charges have materialized from that assault, which allegedly occurred in January.
He also wasn't very good at playing basketball last year, if that means anything.
