Looks like a local thief needs a quick refresher course in Armed Robbery 101: when committing armed robbery, you're not limited in what you can steal. You're already committing a crime that will probably land you in prison, so you might as well grab as much stuff -- i.e. cash -- as possible.

Now that we've got that cleared up, today, Phoenix police released surveillance photos of an armed robbery that happened earlier this month.

The robbery took place at a Phoenix auto-parts store, where the robber ordered a part for his SUV. Rather than pay, he pulled out a gun. At that point, having already committed armed robbery, you'd think the robber would grab some cash out of the register. He didn't. Rather, he took his part and limped away.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, about 3 p.m. on September 8, the suspect in the robbery (pictured) -- a man described as a Hispanic male in his early-30s -- called the Checker Auto Parts store near Camelback Road and 99th Avenue and ordered a part for his 1996 GMC Yukon.

Soon after placing the order, the suspect and another man went to the store to pick up the part.

Once in the store, the suspect pulled out a black handgun and told the clerk, "I have a gun, I don't want to use it."

He didn't have to. The clerk handed over the part, and the suspect, described as having a severe limp, left the store.

At the time, the suspect was wearing a white T-shirt with Arizona written across front, black shorts, a white baseball cap worn backward, and had a tattoo of the Virgin Mary on his neck. Police say he's about 5-foot-7 and 190 to 200 pounds.

The other suspect is described as a Hispanic male between about 35 years old. He's between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-1, 180 to 190 pounds, and was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans, and black sunglasses. He had tattoos on his arms and a goatee.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Phoenix Police Department or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
