The unit is designated to "assist troops heading in and out of Iraq," so perhaps it is an indication that troops on the ground will be "heading out" rather than "heading in." If that's the case, it still seems odd that in order to get soldiers out, we need to send more in.
The troops will now head to Fort Lewis, Washington, for combat readiness training before being deployed to Iraq.
