These Supercharger stations can provide Tesla vehicles with a half-capacity charge in about 20 minutes, which is roughly 16 times faster than typical public charging stations for electric vehicles.

The company tells us the latest station has been installed outside the Wickenburg Town Hall, with the purpose of supporting trips in Tesla vehicles between Phoenix and Las Vegas.

Tesla's Model S can make it about 300 miles on a full charge with the larger battery option, and it's nearly 300 miles between Las Vegas and Phoenix, so this Supercharger station should make that trip a little more comfortable for Tesla owners.

The existing network of Superchargers allow a Tesla S owner to drive from Quartzsite, at Arizona's border with California, through Phoenix, Flagstaff, and into New Mexico on Interstate 40 using these free Supercharger stations.

This is now the eighth Supercharger station in the state, and only California has more. The other Arizona stations are in Yuma, Quartzsite, Gila Bend, Holbrook, Kingman, Flagstaff, and Buckeye. The company has plans to install even more of these charging stations in Arizona, and other states.

Despite having a lot of charging stations, Tesla's sales model -- which cuts out the dealership -- remains illegal in Arizona, leaving the state with "showrooms" to show off the cars, instead of actual retail locations.
