After a four-year hiatus from the top five of Playboy's annual party school ranking, Arizona State University is back in its old form for 2011.

ASU placed third in the magazine's annual list of party schools for 2011, improving in rank from number 6 in 2010 and 15th in 2009, while getting snubbed from the rankings in 2007 and 2008.

The University of Colorado at Boulder took the top spot in this year's rankings, largely 'cause of the student body's penchant for marijuana and the plethora of nearby ski resorts, according to Playboy.

Penn State University was the only other school to beat out ASU -- placing second -- and the University of Arizona was absent from the list for the second straight year after ranking fifth in 2009.

We have a few guesses as to ASU's jump in the, um, prestigious ranking -- there are porn stars on scholarship, a serial groper played non-consensual grab-ass on the campus for a few months, and even the football team's punter got a DUI.

Here's what Playboy had to say about Arizona State for this year's party ranking:

The Sun Devils live up to their name. Thanks to Tempe's toasty climate, there's always a wealth of exposed skin at ASU. "Only in Arizona can you have outrageous pool parties in February," says a senior. At night, students head to Tempe's barhopping nirvana, the Mill Avenue District. Plus, we give props to a school that turned streaking into a yearly tradition. Every spring ASU holds the Undie Run, a charitable event in which thousands of students strip and run around campus. Did we mention that Nick Nolte is an alum?
