Don't tell us that you're surprised. Really, did y'all expect anything different besides the same ol' bloody Cardinals?
Since the team's division-clinching victory against the lowly St. Louis Rams on November 2, your Arizona Cardinals have lost four of their last five , including the previous two against the Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots by a combined 82-21. During the laugher in Foxboro, Massachusetts., Cards QB Kurt Warner threw for only 30 stinkin' yards, leading the offense to four first downs and 45 total yards through three quarters.
Gross.
So what excuses can the Cardinals make? In our opinion, none. They're just lucky that they compete in the NFC because if they played in the unforgiving AFC, forget about the playoffs. Shoot, even a winning record would be iffy.
In other words, the Cardinals have become themselves once again.
So here come the 4-11 Seattle Seahawks to University of Phoenix Stadium for the final NFL regular-season game of 2008. Though it sounds like some sweet home cooking, the 'hawks have actually pulled off two straight victories, including an impressive 13-3 pummeling of the Brett Favre-led New York Jets last Sunday. During the win that was the coldest NFL game in Seattle's history, tailback Maurice Morris darted through a rare snow-blanketed field on his way to a season-high 116 yards. Signal-caller Seneca Wallace managed the game to near-perfection, connecting on 18-of-25 passes and the game's only touchdown to tight end John Carlson.
This will also be Mike Holmgren's final game as Seattle head coach. You gotta bet that the Seahawks will want to send out their leader with a victory. And since the Cardinals have forgotten how to play football, Seattle may very well accomplish its goal.
