Baseball great Kirk Gibson, who recently shed the "interim" from his title of Arizona Diamondbacks interim-manager, is auctioning off a piece of baseball history.
Gibson announced today that he will auction off the bat he used to hit a home run in game one of the 1988 World Series.
If you're not a baseball fan, that home run was kind of a big deal. Check out the video after the jump.
Eck, considered one of the best closers in the game at the time, was no match for the injured Gibson -- he crushed one over the right field fence to win the game.
The home run -- and the ensuing fist pump -- is considered one of the most dramatic moments in World Series history, and the bat used to hit the legendary jack could be yours.
Gibson's teamed with SCP Auctions to auction off the bat, his helmet, his jersey, as well as his 1984 World Series MVP Trophy, which he won while playing for the Detroit Tigers.
Gibson will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Kirk Gibson Foundation to support Michigan State athletics and help fund partial scholarships at two high schools where Gibson's parents taught.
The memorabilia will be featured in the auction house's fall catalog. Check it out here.
