As we reported earlier this year, Governor Jan Brewer has written a book. Well, she had someone ghost-write a book on her behalf that's scheduled to be released November 1.
As we noted in our previous report, Jan's new book wasn't just written by a ghost-writer, it was written by a Sarah Palin-sympathizing ghost-writer/old high school basketball pal -- so it shouldn't come as a shock that the foreword to the book was written by Palin herself, because Brewer apparently "couldn't think of anyone better."
Jan's not necessarily known for her ability to think, so when considering potential scribes for the foreword to her book, it makes sense that she couldn't think of anyone better than the former Alaska governor.
"I reached out to [Palin], and without hesitation, she agreed," Brewer tells the Arizona Republic.
"I was grateful and thrilled that someone with her prominence could be
in the book."
The book is titled "Scorpions for Breakfast: My Fight Against Special Interests, Liberal Media, and Cynical Politicos to Secure America's Border" (a little self-serving, we know, which is why New Times came up with its own title for Jan's book, as well as a complete table of contents, which you can see here),
and she's been paired with conservative ghost-writer Jessica
Gavora.
Gavora and Palin go way back. On her Facebook page, Gavora boasts that
"she grew up in Fairbanks where she played high school basketball
against future Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin."
She even helped Palin pen her own memoirs, America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag.
In addition to her work on Palin's memoirs, Gavora's written her own book,Tilting the Playing Field: Schools, Sports, Sex and Title IX,' and is a former chief speechwriter for John Ashcroft, Attorney General under George W. Bush.
Brewer's
book is pimped by the publisher as the tale of "America's toughest
governor" in a state and country "under siege'' by a "dysfunctional''
federal government that has failed to protect its citizens and "a
national political movement that cynically depends on uncontrolled
illegal immigration to realize its vision of a transformed America.'
We'll definitely be coughing up the $26.99 to get our hands on a copy -- as we noted in our previous post, our grill's not gonna light itself.
