Medical marijuana has the most support of any ballot proposition for the November 2 election, a new survey of likely voters shows.
Fifty-four percent of registered voters, and 52 percent of likely voters, would vote "yes" on Proposition 203, says the latest Rocky Mountain Poll.
If you're thinking, "There's no way it could have that much support in this right-wing-dominated state unless conservatives like it," you're right.
As the poll results show, plenty of Republicans, conservatives and older folks want to "just say no," as Nancy Reagan told them to do. That's no surprise.
The big shocker here is how many Republicans, conservatives and older folks want the right to get high if they need and/or want to.
For instance, while 48 percent of Republicans and 40 percent of self-described "conservatives" oppose Prop 203, a solid 40 percent of Republicans and 50 percent of conservatives support it.
If it does, the pot stores are ready to open. As Howie Fischer of Capitol Media Services reported on September 26, one store already has a Web site up where you can "pre-register" for a medical marijuana card.
We'll go out on a limb and say that thing will probably pass.
