One of the students shot yesterday at Seattle Pacific University is from the Phoenix area.
Sarah Williams was in critical condition after five hours of surgery, according to a local news report.
Williams went to Shadow Mountain High School in Phoenix.
According to a statement from Seattle PD, the alleged shooter, 26-year-old Aaron Ybarra, also shot two other students, killing one. The other student was hospitalized in stable condition.
"The suspect fired several rounds from a shotgun and began reloading his weapon when a student building monitor heroically intervened," the statement says. "The monitor, a man in his 20s, pepper sprayed the suspect before tackling him to the ground. Several bystanders also seized upon the suspect--who was also carrying a knife and additional ammunition--and took his gun."
Ybarra was not a student at the school.
"So far, police have not found any connection between the suspect, Seattle Pacific University or any of the victims," according to Seattle PD. "Detectives are searching additional locations for evidence in the case, and plan to book the suspect into the King County Jail for Investigation of murder."
