The Arizona Republic ran a full-page ad in Spanish yesterday, making some newspaper readers wonder, "Que?"

No, it wasn't a test or an exercise in making non-bilingual gringos feel ignorant. The newspaper published the wrong ad, states a large correction notice on page A14 that's opposite of the same full-page ad in English. Whoops!

(The ad solicits Pete King construction workers who feel like the company ripped them off).

Full-page ads aren't cheap, typically commanding five-figure payments. Which means the group that ran the ad, Carpenters/Contractors Cooperation Committee, Inc., lucked out, sort of -- some of the construction workers who may have been affected by Pete King probably speak Spanish as well as English.

Viva error!
