As of last week, Angry Crab & BBQ is now open at 3820 East Ray Road in South Phoenix. The Ahwatukee-area restaurant is the third seafood spot from local restaurateur Daniel Sevilla, who's also the man behind Mesa's Angry Crab Shack and Angry Crab & BBQ in Central Phoenix.
Like the Central Phoenix restaurant, Angry Crab & BBQ in Ahwatukee serves a menu that includes both seafood by the pound and barbecue. The Angry Crab mini-chain is most known for its Cajun-style seafood boils, which allow diners to choose a type of seafood from options including snow and king crab, shrimp, lobsters, and crawfish. The seafood can be boiled in any of six sauces, each of which can be prepared to several different levels of spice. On the barbecue side, options include pulled pork, chicken, ribs, and brisket.
Sevilla has plans for at least two more restaurants this year. Following the Ahwatukee debut, he plans to open Angry Crab restaurants in Goodyear and Peoria. Neither of those restaurants will serve barbecue, sticking instead to the seafood-only menu offered at the original Mesa location.
