Fans of Gilbert's Arizona Wilderness Brewing Company have some big news to look forward to in the New Year. According to a post on the brewery's Facebook, Arizona Wilderness will begin offering cans of its signature West Coast-style IPA, Refuge IPA, on January 1, 2016.

"Like many of you, we also thrive being active in the outdoors," the posts reads. "Strolling along dirt paths to freedom and fresh air. When the hike begs for a beer break; or maybe when camp is all set; or when its time to sit and watch the Arizona sunset...well, we have Man's best friend on one side and a craft beer in another."

So, in order to get "Wilderness Beer to the Wilderness," the brewery will begin selling 32 oz cans of Refuge IPA in 2016. The cans — which they brewery points out are not the same as crowlers (canned growlers) — will be "weighed by the gram to ensure the perfect fill" and will be canned by the brewery staff, not bartenders. The cans will also only be available at the Gilbert brew pub in order to maintain quality control.

Still, it's a pretty big step for the craft brewery's owners, who have always said they weren't interested in large-scale production or over-expanding. The news, however, comes just months after the owners announced plans to open a second location in downtown Gilbert. Called The Wilderness Room, the second bar will be more focused on craft cocktails and Arizona-wines and will be located at 313 N. Gilbert Road, on the top floor of a three-story building.
