Tempe's Cafe Lalibela has long been a destination for excellent Ethiopian cuisine. And if you've been paying attention, you may have noticed the local restaurant's grab-and-go fare on the shelves at metro Phoenix Whole Foods stores.

Now, owners Anibal and Salem Beyene are introducing something new: Market Lalibela, a 400-square-foot retail space located next door to their restaurant at 849 West University Drive in Tempe.

The market, which opens on Friday, February 12, will offer 27 traditional Ethiopian spices, in addition to food products from local names including Rubman Dan: Arizona Rubs and Hayden Flour Mills; options from the restaurant's grab-and-go food line; Ethiopian teas; and more. Diners also can expect grab-and-go drinks and other prepared food items from the couple's commercial kitchen located on-site.

To celebrate the market's grand opening this weekend, the owners will offer free small spices to the first 50 guests, buy-one-get-one grab-and-go items, and tasting samples on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Market Lalibela will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. For more information check the Cafe Lalibela website
