Here's the Lineup for Devour Phoenix's Palette to Palate Event on March 3

You often hear chefs talk about food as art, but at Devour Phoenix's Palette to Palate event, food and art become one in the same. The event, presented by Devour Phoenix and Local First Arizona as part of the Devoured Culinary Classic week of events, pairs local chefs with local artists, challenging each to interpret each others work.

And though the event's been a part of the Valley's culinary event calendar for years, this year's lineup has a few surprises in store. 

The chef/artist pairings for 2016's Palette to Palate include: 

• Chef Chris Bianco and Leonardo Bianco
  
• Chef Justin Beckett and James Angel
  
• Chef Silvana Salcido Esparza and Casebeer
  
• Chef Joshua Murray and Jesse Perry
  
• Chef Stacey Carson and Jonathan Buford
  

Of course, most diners will know the name Chris Bianco. He's the most famous pizza chef in the country and the man behind the Valley's own Pizzeria Bianco. What some might not know is that Bianco's father, Leonardo, is a still-life painter. If you've dined at any of Chris Bianco's restaurants, you may have noticed his work on the walls. Leonardo worked for years as a professional wine label maker, and also designed the label for the Bianco di Napoli canned tomatoes.

Another unexpected pairing comes from Arizona Wilderness Brewing Company executive chef Stacey Carson and Arizona Wilderness Brewing Company creator Jonathan Buford. In addition to starting the nationally recognized Gilbert brewery, Buford is also a professional photographer. 

At the event, which will be held at the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel on Thursday, March 3 at 6 p.m., guests can expect new works from each artist, Arizona wines, and food from each chef. Tickets cost $40 and can be purchased online.
