Barrio Urbano at The Yard on Seventh Street will close this Thursday — the latest in a series of openings and closings in what has become Phoenix's most dynamic restaurant district.

In a statement on Facebook, Chef Silvana Salcido Esparza says she's not positive why the spot is closing.

"I don’t know exactly. I was never really the owner there, although the concept is 100% MINE (so I get to keep it and open it where and how I want)….They wanted breakfast so I gave them Huevos Divorciados, Vampiros, Torrejas y pinche Menudo (7 days a week, all day long!!!)."

She acknowledges that the location was part of the problem, given that there was no signage in front. The increasing number of restaurants in the vicinity likely contributed as well.

Silvana Esparza says she is researching her new concept, Nopalero (to be housed at her Barrio Gran Reserva on Grand Avenue) and she's also working on three books. In addition, she continues to focus on her personal health.

She signed off this way:
