Celebrate the culture and customs of indigenous peoples at the Native American Heritage Festival featuring the 17th Annual Veterans Day Weekend Traditional Pow Wow, a Native American Recognition Days event. A variety of activities will be hosted at Arizona State University’s West campus on the Fletcher Lawn at 4701 W. Thunderbird Road in Phoenix. The festival is open to everyone and there is free admission and free parking.

The centerpiece of the event – the Pow Wow – is a traditional gathering of dancers, drummers, elders and children. The arena director will direct the activities in the dance arena and the announcer will explain the symbolism, protocol and spiritual meanings of the dances, regalia and drums to the spectators.

In addition to dance and drumming/singing performances, you won’t want to miss the Pow Wow’s grand entries at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. All veterans will be encouraged to participate in the evening’s grand entry where they will be welcomed and thanked for their service to our country. The festival will feature many activities throughout the day. There will be items for sale at Native arts and crafts booths as well as food trucks. Many other activities are being planned.
