Onna Jeanna Voellmer’s love of nature and travel manifests itself beyond her abstract use acrylic, graphite and India ink.
The southern Arizona-based artist literally lives her art, watching the sun set every night and painting outside during the day.
"There is a flow to nature that you can feel if you let go that … is like dancing, where in that moment you lose yourself and the music takes over," Voellemer says in a news release.
Her life moves with nature, and so does her art. Her solo exhibition, “Beyond Place,” will be featured at The MonOrchid, 214 East Roosevelt Street, through Sunday, January 31, with Voellemer in attendance the first night for a free opening reception from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, January 1.
