LIVE & LOCAL FRIDAYS: VINYL STATION
Vinyl Station formed when Matthew Thornton and Brendon Cottrell were mistakenly booked for the same gig and decided to continue performing together. They began a schedule of relentless “gigging”, playing as many as 393 shows in a single year, finally achieving their big break when Rob Thomas (Matchbox Twenty) discovered their music and selected Vinyl Station as the opening act for his 2015 tour. Vinyl Station’s live show features a distinctive blend of Thornton’s strikingly powerful lead vocals and Cottrell’s tight harmonies, resulting in driving rhythms and melodic hooks reminiscent of The National, The War on Drugs and early U2.
