Rocket Fizz

For a quick dose of nostalgia, take a peek inside this mom-and-pop soda and candy shop in Surprise. The brand is based in California, and the interior certainly has a laidback, beachy vibe, but the only location in Arizona is independently owned and operated. It’s a family-run shop, so don’t be surprised to be greeted and offered recommendations by one of the owners’ kids. There are sweets galore, including an impressive selection of salt water taffy flavors, hard-to-find imported candy bars like the British Yorkie and Kinder Bueno, and even wine-flavored gummies. Rocket Fizz also offers sugar in liquid form, and you could hem and haw all day before choosing from one of 600 types of soda pop. The brand even makes its own sodas in flavors like banana nut, black licorice, green apple jalapeno, marshmallow, and Shirley Temple. Or, pick from other rarities like Brain Wash and Fukola Cola.
