The Moon Saloon

The area around Arrowhead Mall along Bell Road in Peoria feels like a convention for corporate chain restaurants. There’s everything from Olive Garden and On the Border to Fuddrucker’s and Rock Bottom Brewery. Hidden in the mix – behind the Hooters – is The Moon Saloon, a sports bar that serves more than cheap beer. The place gets packed when the Suns and Cardinals play, and with plenty of TVs and cheering regulars, it’s a great atmosphere to root on the home teams. The bar also airs baseball, hockey, and select UFC pay-per-view fights. Sit in one of the red vinyl booths on a weekday from 3 to 7 p.m., and you can take advantage of two-for-one draft pints, well drinks, house wines, and eight varieties of sliders, including beer brat, bacon cheddar, and meatball parmesan. There are also snacks like fried pickles and fresh-baked pretzels, burgers, pizza, sandwiches, wraps, and salads to choose from.
