Outlaw Country Brunch

Hidden amongst the dozens of rock, punk, and hardcore bands that DJ Johnny Volume cites on his MySpace page as musical influences are many of country music's greatest rebels. There's David Allan Coe (of course), not to mention Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and all three generations of Hank Williams' family tree. The turbulent and tempestuous songs of these artists will likely find their way into the DJ's playlist during the Outlaw Country Brunch on Sunday, July 18, at the Lucky Devil, 1212 East Apache Boulevard in Tempe. Volume will spin up voluminous amounts of vinyl during the afternoon affair, which will also offer such food and drink specials as $3 Bloody Mary's and mimosas. The music starts at high noon (natch) and there's no cover. Call 480-446-7468.
