Red Bull Thre3style

Though it's been almost a decade since Zach Sciacca put the Valley in his rearview mirror, the artist known as Z-Trip (pictured) still casts a huge shadow over the local scene. There seem to be few DJs in town who aren't connected to the turntable titan. We've lost count of the number of cats who claim Z-Trip's influenced their style or helped buoy their beat-juggling skills in some fashion. This week, Sciacca will once again impress and inspire local spinsters when he'll headline the annual Red Bull Thre3Style on Thursday, April 7, at The Venue Scottsdale, 7117 East Third Avenue. Z-Trip will be on hand to witness eight of P-Town's finest platter jocks — including Death to the Throne, Chris Villa, DJ M2, Pickster One, and Epidemic — facing off in a pitch battle for turntable supremacy. The winner moves on to the regional finals this fall with a chance of superstardom. As for the losers, there's always next year. The beat goes on starting at 8 p.m. and admission is $10-$15.
