You won't believe some of the things we saw while out at the clubs this past month. Besides gawking at all the usual nightlife shenanigans, we happened to spy such weird and wild things as life-sized anthropomorphic animals costumes, dudes firing up laser beams, and a few religious types leading pilgrimages through the sinfulness of Scottsdale. No joke. We even rubbed elbows with celebrities of sorts.
We've got photographic proof of all this, of course, which we captured while in pursuit of after dark adventures around the Valley for Club Candids every week. We'll let the snapshots speak for themselves.
Bro Safari/The Prophet at Monarch Theatre
Both floors of the Monarch Theatre in downtown Phoenix were absolutely cray cray on Saturday, May 3, when the bi-level beat shack was the site of a one-two punch of EDM raging and raving. Upstairs, Dutch-born hardstyle hero The Prophet was whipping the crowd into a frenzy with hard-hitting beats and a furiously trippy light show. Meanwhile, downstairs was the domain of trap superstar Bro Safari, who got everyone going wild out by unleashing his twisted hip-hop-meets-EDM creations.

...while The Prophet shared some sounds in the upstairs lounge at the Monarch.

Well, then...
As its name portends, we encountered both bottles and blondes while hitting up this stylish Indian Plaza drinkery, pizzeria, and social playground on Sunday, May 11, as well as brunettes, redheads, and several raven-haired lasses. Also amongst the stylish and skinny crowd packing Bottled Blonde on this particular Sunday were both jocks and rockers, clubwear-clad lads, and also one cat claiming to be the son of Steven Segal. We didn't ask to see ID or anything, because, if he's anything like his pops, he might've thrashed us. Plus, he did bear a certain resemblance to the action flick actor and Valley resident.

Scottsdale champagne lounge INTL fulfilled its name when it hosted an appearance by internationally known house/trance producer Arty on Friday, May 16. And the Russian-born beatsmith certainly didn't disappoint the throng of clubgoers and EDM fanatics that were present with his lengthy and epic set, which included dropping trippy soundscapes and such signature tracks as "Up All Night," "Riot," and "Believe in Me."
His beats blared throughout the club and out onto the patio, where the Club Candids crew witnessed such nuttiness as cigarettes being lit with lasers and a passing procession of religious folks reminding the drinkers and dancers of Saddlebag Trail that "Jesus is Lord."
Arty's so fly at bashing beats that he can do it with his eyes closed.
The INTL staff aims to please.

The Blunt Club's 12th Anniversary at Yucca Tap
Beats were thumping and rumps were bumping for five hours straight inside of the Yucca Tap Room in Tempe as the granddaddy of local hip-hop nights, The Blunt Club, celebrated its 12th birthday on Thursday, May 22. Turntablist extraordinaire and DMC champ Chris Karns laid down some sick wikki-wikki on the ones and twos, as did the members of Broadway Slim (the DJ duo of Riot Earp and Blunt Club resident Pickster One). Local rap ensemble Party Time Excellent (which consists of DJ Organic and hip-hop cats Mouse Powell and Very G) also made its debut performance.
