UK Thursdays/Pheosia Films Bash @ School of Rock

Like many denizens of Tempe, the folks behind popular UK Thursdays decided to take the summer off for rest, relaxation, and recreation. Now that classes are set to resume at Arizona State University later this month and the college crowd has begun making its return to town, the dubstep weekly will renew its Thump Day domination this week at School of Rock, 411 South Mill Avenue in Tempe. Promoters are planning a big-time bash on Thursday, August 9, that will mark the impending arrival of the school year and — more important — celebrate the work of Francis Lazaro (a.k.a. Pheosia Films), the local video-maker whose kinetic and electrically charged work has documented the Valley's nightlife scene for close to two years now. Headlining the event will be SoCal dubstep producer and Beatport darling We Bang, who's likely to spin his chart-topping hits as "Smash the Floor" and "Skytop" during his performance. Local DJs/producers Fuhnetik, Toon Town, and Luminox will provide support. Doors open at 9:30 p.m. See www.facebook.com/UKThursdays. Admission costs $7 to $12.
