The Yucca Tap Room will host a "Tiki Throwdown" next month featuring local acts like Fivespeed, Black Carl, Liar's Handshake, The Revenge, The Necronauts, and What Laura Says. The event is sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon (the cheap suds which The Onion has pointed out is still cruising on a medal won the century before last) and will take place in the venerable Tempe watering hole's parking lot on Saturday, October 10. The all-day luau will feature Hawaiian food, a pig roast, leis and is headlined by the Los Angeles ska band Fishbone.
Doors open at 2 p.m. with music starting at 3. There's no cover but there is a suggested $3 donation to benefit Single Mothers With Cancer. For more info call (480) 967-7777.
In the interest of full disclosure: Kelly Wilson, who contributes to this blog, is organizing this event. We'd attend either way though.
