Clint Eastwood Maez Isn't Quite Dirty Harry; Cops Say He Fatally Stabbed Man in Parking Lot

Don't let the name fool you -- Clint Eastwood Maez has just about nothing in common with the salty Hollywood actor.

In fact, we're only talking about Clint Eastwood Maez because he's accused of stabbing two men, one fatally, in the parking lot of a Phoenix apartment complex a couple of weeks ago.

Phoenix police say Maez approached the two men in a parking lot near 55th Avenue and Indian School Road on March 29 and stabbed them both after getting into an argument.

Phoenix Police Sergeant Steve Martos tells New Times that one man, 50-year-old Johnny Espindola, died from his injuries, but the other victim, his brother, was stabbed in the hand only.

Maez wasn't around by the time police showed up, but through interviews with witnesses, police identified Maez as a suspect. Martos says the victims had never met Maez before, but Maez apparently had been visiting a friend or girlfriend at the apartment complex when he got into an argument with Espindola and his brother.

Police tracked down Maez and arrested him at a location a few miles away, and Martos says he invoked his rights, saying nothing to investigators.

Maez was booked into jail on a charge of second-degree murder, as well as an outstanding warrant.
