Last week, we asked our readers to offer suggestions for a caption for the above photo we snapped of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio eating a Mexican pizza from Taco Bell for this week's New Times' You Write the Caption contest.

Once again, you didn't disappoint.

We had nearly 50 responses in the comment section of the post, which you can see by clicking here.

We've narrowed it down to five finalists, but only one can win the grand prize: a pay-your-own-way trip to the historic New Times building, a firm handshake, and a lukewarm glass of Phoenix's municipal tap water.

The finalists are as follows:

A) Eleanor with "Are there really Mexicans in this pizza?"

B) Jason with "Next immigration raid: Taco Bell!"

C) 1001 with "Leave it to the illegals to put beans on a Pizza!"

D) 1001 with "And the New Times says I wasted $100 million on stupid stuff. Once again they can eat my pink shorts because I just spent 20k in labor and 5 dollars at Taco Bell to put on this crappy PR stunt!"

E) wherewasi with "This looks like Drop House Cheese.  I will have to immediately begin to plan my next media stu... er, I mean "Crime Supression Sweep."

Keep Phoenix New Times Free... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
