As explained by Ray Stern in a recent New Times cover story, local law enforcement agencies, under the guidance of Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery, are treating certain preparations of medical marijuana as illegal.

This opinion comes about even though the voter-approved law says patients may legally possess marijuana and "any preparation or mixture thereof."

In addition to the lawsuit (which Stern wrote about last week), the ACLU also released an essay written by Jennifer Welton, Zander's mother, explaining the whole situation from her view.

The essay makes it seem fairly ridiculous that a prosecutor would target certain preparations of marijuana.
