The 1-year-old boy who was left in a car in Scottsdale this weekend while his father went to work died Monday night, police say.
A police spokesman says the department is now seeking a second-degree murder charge against 28-year-old Brokale Lytte Marques, in addition to other charges.

The boy had been on life support at the hospital.
Police said Marques went to work near the Scottsdale Quarter (Scottsdale Road and Greenway-Hayden Loop) about 9 a.m. Saturday. Court documents indicate Marques actually worked at a travel agency behind the Scottsdale Quarter.

Marques told police that he couldn't find a babysitter, so his plan was to leave the youngster in the vehicle, with the air conditioning running.
Between 11 and 11:30 a.m., Marques checked on the child during his lunch break and he seemed fine, he said.
But when he checked on the child at 2 p.m., his boy was in a "lethargic state," police said.
"The father began to drive and look for a hospital when he pulled into the mall area and flagged down security to call for medical help," Scottsdale Police Officer David Pubins said.
According to court documents filed by police, Marques got some sort of mucus or vomit on his shirt, presumably from his son overheating in the car.
Marques was initially booked into jail on charges of child abuse, child neglect, and endangerment, and his bond was set at $25,000.
However, with the addition of the second-degree murder charge, Marques will have to see a judge again.
Not even a month ago, a 3-month-old boy died about a mile away from this location, after being left in a hot car. In that case, police allege Daniel Gray forgot that he left his son in the backseat when he went into work for a few hours.
In that case, police allege Gray actually took a pot-smoking break during his work, and was standing at the front of his car, smoking, without realizing that his son was in the car behind him.
Gray has pleaded not-guilty to manslaughter and child-abuse charges.
