Signs of the Time: SB 1062 Opponents' Messages of Protest at the State Capitol

Opponents of the so-called "Religious Freedom" bill have been holding protest rallies at the State Capitol urging Governor Jan Brewer to veto the bill that was fast-tracked to her office by state lawmakers.

Proponents of the measure insist that its only purpose is to protect individual religious freedoms. However, gay activists say their community is clearly the target of SB 1062 because they aren't afforded the state and federal protections against discriminations that others are afforded based on "race, color, religion, sex, national origin or ancestry."

There is no anti-discrimination laws that protect individuals based on their sexual orientation and gender identity.

Some of the signs protesters are using to get their message across to Brewer and those lawmakers who supported the proposal.
