Line Up Early: A Second Little Miss BBQ Now Open in Sunnyslope

Oh, glorious day for meat lovers. Local barbecue standout Little Miss BBQ finally opened its second location on Tuesday, November 20, in Sunnyslope after more than a year of hype. It will open at 4 p.m. and close at 9 p.m. or until all meat is sold, which likely will be sooner.

For those who have dined at the original Tempe location, you have most likely been waiting for this day for a while now, and enjoying the daily updates from owner Scott Holmes on their social media pages. We cannot say enough good things about this central Texas-style barbecue, though we have tried.

The fatty brisket melts in your mouth, the smoked pecan pie is one of the best joys you can find in the Valley, and the pastrami only sold on Thursdays is legendary. There's a reason Phoenix New Times food critic Chris Malloy put it in a tier of its own for the best barbecue in metro Phoenix.

You really cannot go wrong with what you order, but for those newbies who have waited this long to try this immensely popular barbecue joint there are some things to know:

• You will almost always wait in line before you eat. This line can take an hour or longer depending on the day, but don't fret: The food is worth it every time, and you will get free sausage samples as you wait.

• The fatty brisket sells out fast. This is what the chefs highly recommend ahead of everything else, and you'll learn why from your first bite.

• You can order in advance for pickup. Just head to the restaurant's website for more information. They also do crazy Thanksgiving pickup orders, but you'll have to wait until next year to try this out.

• The Thanksgiving options include an entire brisket (5 to 7 pounds) for $110, a full turkey breast (2 to 3 pounds) for $40, and one of the delicious Bekke's Smoked Pecan Pies we mentioned earlier for $5 a pie. Good news on the latter is you can order these any time, not just for Thanksgiving. 

Oh, and for the best news: This new location will have alcohol, which isn't available at the original store in Tempe. .

According to the Little Miss BBQ Instagram post, there will be beer, wine, and mixed cocktails.  This new location also will be open later than Tempe; so in the future you could get Little Miss BBQ for lunch in Tempe, and Little Miss BBQ for dinner in Sunnyslope.

If you plan to go, leave as early as possible to ensure you get what you desire, and let all your barbecue dreams come true.
