A Dining Guide to New Year’s Eve in the PHX

It’s time to put 2018 to bed with prix-fixe menus and parties throughout metro Phoenix this New Year’s Eve. Have your dialing finger ready to make a reservation for a stylish evening out followed by a full belly to ring in 2019.

From seafood joints to modern eateries to elegant resort restaurants, here are some of the many places offering New Year’s Eve dining across the Valley.

For New Year’s Eve dinner, head to the MARKET Restaurant + Bar by Jennifer's for menu highlights like escargot with farm butter on noble bread, two wash deviled eggs with caviar, smoked foie, stuffed gougeres, and more. To drink, order a specialty cocktails like the sonoma gin and tonic or the pomerey champagne margarita for two.

The restaurant at Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix is hosting New Year’s Eve dinner with a four-course, prix-fixe dinner. Start with confit heirloom tomato or foie torchon, followed by a second course of Cinderella pumpkin or lobster bisque. Choice of entrée includes scallops, duck breast, or an eight-ounce Angus filet of beef, followed by the chocolate trifle or lemon tart. Cost is $95 per person, and dinner is from 5 to 10 p.m. Reservations are recommended at 602-258-0231.

For the ultimate surf and turf New Year’s Eve dinner, Buck &Rider is hosting an all-day NYE nash. Come in any time during the day, but at 9:30 p.m., it’s party time with drinks, party favors, a photo booth, and music. Choose from salads, sushi, seafood, Uni nigari, and John Dory (chorizo broth, polenta cake, blistered heirloom cherry tomato, and fennel salad) all day with no prix-fixe menu or dining fee — just a party. Chula Seafood
8015 East Roosevelt Street, Scottsdale

Chef Juan Zamora and the Chula team are setting up an intimate pop-up dinner with six-courses. The best part is, you get to BYOB — meaning you’ll be ringing in the new year with your favorite adult beverage. Specialty dishes are unique to New Year’s Eve, and seatings are at 5 and 7:30 p.m. Cost is $100 per person.

New Year’s Eve Dinner at Mountain Shadows means a special menu with items like lobster tortellini, burrata and Brussels sprout salad, beef tenderloin, and warm chocolate torte with salted caramel ice cream. There are two seatings — one at 6:30 p.m. at $120 per person and one at 9:30 p.m. for $150 per person. The latter dinner also includes party favors and a midnight Champagne toast. Keeler’s Steakhouse
7212 East Ho Hum Road, Carefree

If you’re the type of person who’d like to celebrate the New Year with a steakhouse’s official grand opening, Keeler's Neighborhood Steakhouse is throwing a celebration with a buffet dinner. Think items from their steakhouse menu, meat carvings and crustacean stations, desserts, a full bar, and a Champagne toast. The party starts at 7 p.m., and tickets are $100.

A four-course a la carte dinner awaits at LON’s at the Hermosa. Ring in the New Year with options like venison tartar, crisp suckling pig, cauliflower horseradish bisque, blue crab-stuffed Maine lobster, and La Belle Farms duck breast “pastrami.” For dessert, think spiked Mexican chocolate churros or raspberry macaron cheesecake. New Year’s Eve dinner starts at 5 p.m. at MARKET Restaurant + Bar by Jennifer's, where menu highlights include starters like seared diver scallops and wild mushroom risotto. Choose from entrees like the Chateaubriand beef tenderloin and salmon en croute, and for dessert it’s baked Alaska served with a sparkler on top and coffee. Cost is $75 per person, or $90 with a wine pairing for each course. You also get a complimentary glass of Champagne for a toast. Reservations can be made at 602-626-5050.

Mora Italian
5651 North Seventh Street

You'll find a four-course, prix-fixe menu this New Year’s Eve at Mora Italian. The first course offers choice of radicchio and endives and porcini and artichoke soup, followed by a second course offering pasta pomodoro, foie gras gnudi, or rigatoni nero. For your entrée, choose from beef shortrib daube, roasted turbot, and pumpkin Parmesan, and select from budino, chocolate torte, or blackberry sorbet for your fourth course. Dinner runs from 4 to 11 p.m., and cost is $65 per person. You can also opt in for wine pairings for an additional $25. Make reservations at 602-795-9943.

This South Mountain farm and restaurant is offering New Year’s Eve dining on the terrace or inside the original farmhouse. The four-course chef’s tasting menu include options like foie gras torchon, potato gnocchi with uni butter and crab, beef fillet with king trumpet mushrooms, and opera cake. Seating options range from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $125 per person, and an additional $65 for wine pairings during dinner. Make a reservation at 602-276-0601.

Roka Akor
7299 North Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale

Ring in 2019 with a five-course meal from Roka Akor happening from 4:30 p.m. to midnight. Choose from a tasting menu with items like Kushii oysters, Salt Spring mussels, crispy pork belly, bluefin tuna flight, and black cod. There will also be dessert and probably a fun surprise at midnight. Price is $128 per person with a two-person minimum per reservation — which can be made online or at 480-582-4552.

Get in the last supper of 2018 at Rusconi’s American Kitchen with its three-course menu. Think starters like lobster bisque and winter pumpkin squash soup, followed by entrees including Florida grouper with Meyer lemon butter sauce, roasted pork tenderloin with pomegranate glaze, and open-faced butternut squash ravioli. For dessert, try the bananas Foster crème brûlée with salted caramel. Dinner starts at 5 p.m. Cost is $69, and reservations can be made at 480-483-0009.

Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa
5700 East McDonald Drive, Paradise Valley

Chjoose between an elegant sit-down meal at elements or party at jade bar this New Year’s Eve. The on-site restaurant elements will offer a four-course, prix-fixe menu with two seating times — either 5:30 to 7 p.m. for $150 per person or 8 to 10:30 p.m. at $195 per person. At the onsite bar, jade is hosting the New Year’s Eve dance from 9:30 p.m. till 1:30 a.m., complete with a dance floor and DJ Hybrid. Cost is $1,100 for a table of four, or $1,650 for a table of six., while the dinner package offers the four-course prix-fixe menu with a bottle of Dom Perignon Champagne and party favors. Sushi Roku
7277 East Camelback Road, Scottsdale

The New Year’s Eve menu at Sushi Roku includes lobster spring rolls, whole fried seabream, and a 48-ounce Binchotan grilled porterhouse. They’ll be new year’s specials like this all weekend long, plus a $95 “omakase” menu, party favors, and complimentary champagne toast at midnight.

T. Cook’s

There will be an elegant dining option at Royal Palms Resort and Spa thanks to the T. Cook’s New Year’s Eve dinner. The upscale resort restaurant is offering two different multicourse menus that night. The first seating offers a three-course menu from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at $95 per person, and the second seating offers a five-course menu with a Moet Champagne toast from 7 to 10 p.m. at $150 a person. Plus, you can pop over to the Roaring Twenties New Year’s Eve Party with a full bar, champagne toast, tapas, a seafood raw bar, and a dessert bar for $150 a ticket. The Salt Cellar
550 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale

It’s still Nantucket Cape scallop season, meaning the Salt Cellar is ready to host New Year’s Eve dinner. Try the extremely seasonal Nantucket Cape scallops or choose from their full menu of flown-in seafood that includes the halibut “ceviche” and mussels in butter sauce appetizers, plus the Atlantic halibut, stuffed mountain trout, Florida black grouper, pan fried lobster, and more.
