Gaze upon the cover of the Last Vegas' sensitively titled Get Hip debut, Lick 'Em and Leave 'Em, and you're face to face with four hairy dudes who look as if they've spent the last six tour stops showering at a gas station. Actually, the music catches that Pennzoil shampoo Zeitgeist as well, since it's 10 tracks of solid balls-to-the-floor Motor City rock that mates the Stooges with Mötley Crüe and nixes out the poufy glam extras. Like their Prairie State brethren Cheap Trick, these guys can both snarl and feign fey admirably, like on the groupie dismissal anthem "She Won't Go" ("I asked you nice and now you're making me shout/You don't have to shape up, you just have to ship out") and the educational "You Want to Know How to Love Me," recently heard on MTV's Pimp My Ride. Check these guys up close now, before success dulls their raw finish.
