When it comes to goth nights here in the Valley, people seem to think that Club Palazzo's Friday-night freak fest Tranzylvania is the only ghoulish game in town. Turns out they're dead wrong, as popular GLBT hangout Velocity 2303, at 2303 East Indian School Road, has been putting on a Goth Night that's been attracting both the gay and straight crowd every Saturday night. Hosted by DJ Loki, the pasty and portly guitarist for local symphonic goth band Reliquary, the weekly shindig offers a seriously scary selection of dark dance music and other batcave jams, ranging from the Cocteau Twins, Siouxsie Sioux, and Sisters of Mercy to more postmodern acts like She Wants Revenge, Genitorturers, and Gitane Demone. Fittingly enough, DJ Loki will welcome in the yuletide season in spooky fashion with a Nightmare Before Christmas Party on Saturday, November 29. Bust out with your Jack Skellington T-shirt and apply plenty of guyliner, as Loki and DJ Dark Angel will be on the mixers all night long. The freaky fun starts at 9 p.m. and there's no cover.
