It's sort of like when SCTV's Count Floyd showed an Ingmar Bergman movie, then asked the kiddies: "You think it's not scary to be depressed?"

Thoughout September, Valley movie maven Fred Linch has covered everything from bloodsuckers to zombies to the sci-fi visions of Steven Spielberg in his weekly cinema-discussion series "The Unexplained." So what does he choose for the coup de grâce? "The Films of Krzysztof Kieslowski"? Krzysztof Kieslowski?

The late Polish writer/director was best known for the Three Colors trilogy (Red, White, Blue) and for The Decalogue, his massive film cycle exploring the Ten Commandments. He was a master of composition and color, with an eye for the faces of European beauties such as Julie Delpy and Juliette Binoche. Kieslowski was also, to use Linch's term, "The Man Inside Our Head." Think that's not scary?
