Brute Farce

We don’t know about you, but there were times during the recent Beijing Olympics when we wanted to rain death blows on the Chinese party goons running things. A dark alley, some strategically placed mystery chops, and suddenly it’s our lady gymnasts dominating the medal podium instead of those teensy Chinese tweens. The critics similarly hai-karate’d the Z-movie Dance of Death when it came out in 1976. The flick – which screens as part of Midnite Movie Mamacita’s Martial Arts Movie Mania event – portrays Chairman Mao as a fists-of-fury tyke on a revenge binge. After the screening, well-known Asian martial arts/action-film aficionados Ric Meyers (pictured) and Stephen Watson will host a Q&A.
