Onetime Hollywood strongman Michael Ovitz used to make news for all the wrong reasons: voicing paranoiac slurs about the gay mafia, causing schisms in the Mickey Mouse fantasy factory during his star-crossed Disney stint, and manhandling the help as documented in Suzanne Hansens book You'll Never Nanny in This Town Again.
What is sometimes overlooked about the former head of the all-powerful Creative Artists Agency is that he and his power wife, Judy, funneled much of that Tinseltown loot into a major-league contemporary-art collection. Many works from their lionized hoard are included in the NOW: Selections From the Ovitz Family Collection exhibit. Featured artists include Mark Bradford, Rachel Harrison, Richard Hughes, Jamie Isenstein, and Katy Moran.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: June 7. Continues through Sept. 28, 2008
