Maybe its the gazillion YouTube videos of drunken mishaps, the preponderance of up-skirt porn, or the fact that you started taking shots with your iPhone instead of dialing 911 the last time you saw a public brawl, but did you ever get the feeling somebodys always watching? Given the accessibility of vid cams, its no shock that Arizona State University Art Museum curator John Spiak received more than 1,600 individual submissions for the Im Keeping an Eye on You group video exhibit.
Spiak eventually narrowed the field to just 10 videos by artists including Rachel Garfield, Michael Mohan, and ASU student Myung-Soo Kim. It was my hope to discover artists who are emerging, under-recognized, or off the radar, says Spiak. For most of the artists in this exhibition, the project is their first exposure in the U.S. Though these newcomers works are designed to cross personal boundaries, were pretty sure there wont be any wardrobe malfunctions or dopey pratfalls.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Sept. 19. Continues through Dec. 12, 2009
