TBS sitcom Sullivan and Son works because it is based on the life of stand up comic Steve Byrne. Like his character on the show, Byrne is half-Irish and half-Korean, and he really has a mom named Ok Cha. It’s best left to our imagination if she ever called her son a “little bitch” in real life, or if Byrne took some artistic license and a little help from Vince Vaughn, who is one of the show’s producers. Regardless, Ok Cha steals the show as the overbearing mother who is never quite pleased with her children, but loves them anyway. As the show enters its second season, Byrne and his buddies (Owen Benjamin, Ahmed Ahmed, and Roy Wood, Jr.) hit the road.

Witness the family feud live on Sunday, July 28, at 7 p.m. at Stand Up Live, 50 West Jefferson Street. Tickets for this 18-and-over event are $22, and there is a two-drink minimum. Call 480-719-6100 or visit www.standuplive.com.
