Judah Friedlander is the self-proclaimed World Champion and, to be fair to him, he has the T-shirt and trucker cap to prove it. The acclaimed stand-up comic brings his winning ways to Phoenix Thursday, November 14.

Best known for portraying lunky comedy writer Frank Rossitano on NBC’s 30 Rock, Friedlander has been gracing the stand-up stage since 1989. With his not-quite-athletic build and early-'80s slacker garb, one might question the World Champ’s claim to the crown of top footballer, elite ping-pong player, and everything else under the sun. But with his nomination for the Independent Spirit Award’s best supporting actor for 2003’s American Splendor and his authoring of the karate manual How To Beat Up Anybody, it’s clear that the man’s talents abound. Friedlander soaks in the spotlight with boastful bravado, but his comedic charm comes across at its fullest in his improvisational audience interactions.

Friedlander cracks wise at Stand Up Live, 50 West Jefferson Street, nightly through Saturday, November 16. Thursday’s show starts at 8 p.m., and tickets are $22. For more info, visit www.standuplive.com or call 480-719-6100.

Thu., Nov. 14, 8 p.m.; Fri., Nov. 15, 7:30 & 9:45 p.m.; Sat., Nov. 16, 7 & 9:45 p.m., 2013
