A Nightmare Performance

Before becoming the fountainhead of post-grunge outfit White Zombie -- the musical equivalent to a horror B-movie -- Rob Zombie was an assistant on the set of the cryptically quirky TV show Pee Wee’s Playhouse. (We always knew there was something up with that show.) Thanks to America’s generally appalling taste in music and the rapid decline of Western civilization, some fortuitous circumstances befell Mr. Zombie allowing him to pursue some twisted visions lurking behind that macabre visage of his, only with ample resources.

Viola! Rob Zombie’s Great American Nightmare was born. Sure, it’s one of the nation’s most blood-curdling haunted house experiences, but with Powerman 5000 and Rob Zombie on the bill for opening night, the most terrifying part might be the music. Rob Zombie’s Great American Nightmare comes to Scottsdale’s Westworld, 16601 North Pima Road, on Saturday, September 20. Tickets start at $25 for the attraction, which is, shockingly, all ages. Visit www.frightened.com or call 480-312-6802 for details.

Fridays, Saturdays, 7 p.m.-midnight; Sundays, 7-10 p.m.; Thursdays, 7-10 p.m. Starts: Sept. 19. Continues through Oct. 30, 2014
